Course Information

This course provides Carers of Children and Vulnerable Adults the knowledge and awareness to complete their role and responsibilities in relation to the recognition and reporting of incidents of abuse in its varying forms or suspicions of abuse.

Course Syllabus:

  • Statutory policy documents and relevant legislation
  • Vulnerable adult definition, risk factors & safe guarding principles
  • Definition of abuse and review of various abuse types
  • Indicators of abuse and their related manifestations
  • Abuse risk factors- organisational, personal & familial
  • How to report abuse or suspicion of abuse
  • Reporting do’s and don’ts and documenting procedures

Participant Profile:
This course is suitable for any staff caring for Children or Vulnerable adults within a community or Healthcare facility setting. This course should be offered to staff on induction as well as ongoing training in this area to maintain and ensure high levels of vigilance thereby protecting service users from potential harm.

  • A full refund will be granted if a booking is cancelled within 24 hours of the booking.
  • If a booking is cancelled after 24 hours there will be a 50% charge and 50% of the booking fee will be refunded.
  • No refund will be granted if a booking is cancelled within 7 days of the course date.

Course Details

Objective:

  • Raise awareness to the possibility of abuse in Children & Vulnerable Adults
  • Provide an understanding as to the various types of abuse and their risk factors
  •  List and discuss the various signs of abuse
  • Ensure carers are aware of their role in reporting cases of abuse or suspected abuse
  • Provide an understanding of the reporting process
  • Provide an overview of policy documents and legislation governing reporting cases of abuse or suspected abuse

Duration: 5 Hours

Method:

This session is given in an informal, discussion, practice based format involving students and their own work based experience. The session follows a Power Point presentation ensuring the full syllabus is completed.

Certificate of Attendance issued on completion
